Skin 2008

Back to school  again!!! :)

I decided to take an English course this autumn and now I have been studying English for some weeks. I remember I had two subjects in English when I was in a university and it have been quite long time since I graduated from the university.

I moved to Norway in 2005 and I have been living here for about 10 years now.In Norway I rarely speak English, but have to learn and speak Norwegian as my second language so that it would be easier for me to get a job here. When I don't practice my English, it is getting worse every year and finally it's time to do something about my poor English. Going to school is an only one way to improve my English.

Last week I watched a film at the school. The film " Skin " is a true story of Sandra Laing based on a black girl who was born to white Afrikaner parents during the apartheid era in the 1950s.

With her appearance  she was classified as colored although her parents were white. Her father tried to fight the unfair system so that she could go back to school with other white children again.

Her story came to the media and finally she was reclassified as white and she could go back to school again.

When she was 17 years old she realized that she would not be accepted from the white community due to her feature. She met a black guy named Petrus and fell in love with him and got pregnant.
Her father knew about this and she had to choose between her family and boyfriend. She should a black guy because she loved him and he was a father of her baby.

I will not tell you a whole story here, but if you want to watch this film I'm sure you can find it somewhere like eBay :)

This movie made me think about an unfair system/ a racial segregation in South Africa and I realize that you shouldn't judge people  from their races or colors.Everyone deserves the same rights and respects.

I almost cried when I saw a principal hit a little girl many times and she didn't understand why he hit her so hard.

He told her to stand  in front of the whiteboard and began with multiplication table.

A girl : Seven times one equals seven.
A headmaster : louder!

A girl: 7 times 1 equals...
A headmaster: hit her one time and said "louder! "

A girl : 7 times 1 equals 7 , 7 times 2 equals 14.
A headmaster : hit her many times and said"I said louder" !!!

A girl : Why are you hitting me?

This is one of my absolutely favorite films ever and I strongly recommend this film to my family and friends. I wish everyone could watch this amazing movie.

And I would like to say that Anthony Fabian who is a director is a talent guy.He did a great job and now I'm really looking forward to watching his other films too :)

P.S. Never give up !!!

And my motto is " Practice makes perfect = Øvelse gjør mester ".

Mushroom picking

Mushroom picking  is one of my favorite outdoor activities with friends and family :)

Yesterday I and my lovely friend, P' Pom went to the forest for picking some mushrooms. We had walked and walked for about two and a half hours and we finally got some Chanterelle , is also known as  " golden chanterelle" and " egg mushroom".

Today I decided to make some good food from mushrooms that were picked yesterday. I cooked them with some vegetables from my greenhouse.I also think it is good to grow my own veg. This dish is called " Tom Jab Chai" -vegetable soup.I would prefer not to use any kind of meat.I still believe that vegetable or tufo make a perfect substitute for meat. And the mushrooms can also be a good replacement for meat.

Well, I will not tell you here how to make vegetable soup, but

you can find more information about this delicious dish from this website Tom Jabchai if you are interested.
Just chick on the text " Tom Jabchai" and then you will get more info about it.

I am adding some pictures here too.

This is what my Tom Jab Chai looks like.Yummy!!! :)

Wish you guys have a great Sunday!

Homemade raisin buns are always popular for the kids!

Sunday is our family day like this Sunday. My husband woke up early as usual while I still had a good sleep and didn't want to get up until 10 c'clock :) I know I am a lazy woman, especially on Sunday ;) LOL

When I woke up and walked down to the kitchen. It smelled SO good.I wondered what he was doing, and I found that he was baking some small raisin buns for the kids.

Those buns tasted very delicious!

I think I would like to have a cup of coffee or tea now :)
